RMA-SMI-EADH Conference 2026

Taking place from 29 August -1 September 2026, this international conference is, by special arrangement, the jointly-held annual conference of the Royal Musical Association, the Society for Musicology in Ireland, and the European Association for Dance History. As a plenary event, papers, workshops, and panels will consider the history and practice of music or dance from the 15th century to the present.

Composer workshops in the Sonic Lab or with Hard Rain SoloistEnsemble will culminate in concert presentations; an immersive video gallery will display creative work. Participation on site at Queen’s University Belfast includes full access to all events at RMA-SMI-EADH 2026.

Full conference participation on site includes access to all conference locations, beverages, the reception, and any concerts (on a first-come-first-served basis, maximum spaces 110 for Harty Room; 140 for the Sonic Lab).

The Conference Dinner requires a separate booking and fee (maximum spaces 140). Lunch and dinner are not included.

The social dance workshop (evening of 31 August) is FREE but requires booking in advance due to limited numbers (30 places).

‘Early Bird’ fees available until 15 June, 2026 11:59 pm BST:

If a student, unwaged, or retired member or RMA, SMI, or EADH: £50
Non-members: £110 full / £70 concession

Standard Booking, available from 16 June, 2026:
If a member of RMA, SMI, or EADH: £105
If a student, unwaged, or retired member or RMA, SMI, or EADH: £70
Non-members: £135 full / £95 concession

Registration closes on 16 August, 2026 @ 11:59pm.

Remote participation at the conference is only possible for presenters who are unable to travel. Hybrid access will only be offered to those presenters, for the session in which they are scheduled to present. These presenters should pay a single day rate (see below).

Day Ticket
A Day Ticket provides access to the full conference program for that day, including concerts. Flat rate for all categories of delegate:

Saturday 29 August, Sunday 30 August, Monday 31 August, Tuesday 1 September: £40 per day.
