No matter if you voted or what way you voted in the 23 June 2016 referendum on the UK membership of the European Union, it is impossible not to be affected by the fallout from it. In fact, Brexit has seen a change to the legal, economic, political and social situation for Northern Ireland unlike any other – and its effects will be felt for generations. This course is a simple, piece by piece, ‘essential guide’ to what Brexit means for Northern Ireland. Drawing on sociology, political science, law and economics, it is designed and delivered by top experts on the subject, drawing on insights and data from the Post-Brexit Governance NI project in Queen’s.

The course will be delivered in five classes of two hours, with plenty of room for Q&A. It will include the following topics ‘How the EU works and what membership meant for NI’, ‘The Brexit negotiation process’, ‘The Post-Brexit UK-EU agreements’, ‘What the Protocol/Windsor Framework is and its impact’, ‘Where the future UK-EU relationship may go’. Whether you are working in a sector impacted by Brexit or the Windsor Framework, or merely an interested citizen, this course is intended to demystify what remains a ‘live’ but complex topic.
