Autumn 2026
10 weekly sessions on Thursdays 11.00 am to 1.00 pm, starting 1 October
In this course, we look at examples of ekphrasis, traditionally writing inspired by visual art, in the writing of the past and of contemporary writers. We alternate between the classroom and visits to exhibitions, often in The Ulster Museum or the Mac, occasionally in Dublin, and then we share work inspired by what we have seen. We also hope to extend the work to include ekphrasis from film or theatre. The classes are relaxed and supportive, and no prior knowledge of either poetry or art is required.
This class will take place on QUB campus and other venues
