LBJ was what a Texan was supposed to be – tall, rugged, brash – but he was much more than a stereotype. He was also one of America's most outstanding politicians, evidenced by his leadership of the US Senate in the late 1950s and his legislative record as president in the mid-1960s, particularly the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Voting Rights Act of 1965. This 10-week course will follow Johnson from the poverty of rural Texas to the majesty of the White House – and of course also to the jungles of Vietnam.
This class will take place on QUB campus
