Step into seventeenth-century Venice and discover the remarkable story of Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia (1646–1684), generally regarded as the first woman in the world to receive a university degree. In this interactive and student-centred five-week course, we will explore her life, her intellectual achievements and the cultural world of Venice at the time, uncovering fascinating insights into education, society and the role of women in early modern Europe through discussions, games and short role plays.
Please, note that the contents of the two classes are the same, but some activities and the language used in class are graded based on the level.
This class will take place on QUB campus
