Commencing with the ancient civilisation centred on the cities of Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa, this course will trace Indian history from the latter part of the last Ice Age forward almost 13,000 years to medieval India and the rise of the Moghul empire.Looking at the development of Vedic society with the influx of Aryans into north-east India, it will move on to the Achaemenid and Maury empires, through the classical period to the rise of Islam. (Part 2: The Moghul Empire to Independence, will be offered in Autumn 2026)
