10 weekly sessions on Tuesdays 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm, starting 23 September
This course will consider theories and research in different areas of psychology and how these are relevant to applied contexts. We will examine personality testing and how this is used in recruitment. Related to this is the issue of intelligence. What is the role of ability testing in selecting the right candidates for a job. We will also look at the role of psychology in in promoting healthy behaviours such as taking up exercise and stopping smoking. We will also examine issues in sport and advertising. How can athletes improve their concentration and teamwork and how do advertisers persuade customers to buy their products?
This class will take place on QUB campus
