West Belfast evolved in the 19th Century from farmland and country estates to a townscape of industrial sites and associated mixed income house interspersed with relics of its middle-income past.We will attempt to trace the course of the now largely covered Farset River which was the raison d'etre for the cluster of over 16 linen related factories and mills in this area, visiting sites of this activity.Who were the builders (architects, construction firms and developers)?Who were responsible for this industrial structure and their associated housing stock? We travel along Divis Street and the Falls Road and into the Clonard district finishing in the Beechmount area. There will be a lunch opportunity (not included in the fee) in the Conway Community Enterprises Centre in the former Conway Mill.

Meeting Point: Meet at the Queen's Street Falls Road bus route start.
