Livestock, Land Use & Achieving Climate Targets will bring together researchers, policymakers, industry, farmers and other stakeholders to explore how Northern Ireland can meet its climate ambitions while maintaining a productive and sustainable agricultural sector.

The two-day event will connect science, policy and practice, showcasing emerging work from LUNZ Hub and MACSUR and creating opportunities for discussion around modelling, land use, innovation and the practical delivery of climate solutions.

Day 1 – 18 November | Riddel Hall, Queen’s University Belfast

Science, Modelling, Policy & Engagement

Explore how research, modelling and innovation can inform climate policy and support a productive and sustainable agricultural sector.

Day 1 will include plenary discussions and a choice of two parallel interactive workshops:

• Workshop A – Strengthening the Science–Policy Interface
  An interactive MACSUR workshop exploring how science–policy interfaces can be assessed and strengthened, with participants contributing to the validation of criteria and indicators for evaluating their effectiveness.

• Workshop B – Innovation, Supply Chains & Policy
  A two-part workshop exploring Technology, Innovation & AI and Aligning Supply Chain & Policy Goals, considering opportunities, challenges and practical approaches across the agri-food system.

Delegates will be asked to select one of the two parallel workshops when registering.

Evening – 18 November | Riddel Hall, Queen’s University Belfast

Fireside Chat & Networking Dinner

Following Day 1, delegates are invited to join an evening Fireside Chat bringing together different perspectives on food production, climate policy, land use and sustainability, followed by a networking dinner.

There is no additional charge for the evening programme, but advance registration is required.

Day 2 – 19 November | AFBI Hillsborough

From Modelling to Implementation

See how research can translate into real-world action through farm and research demonstrations, practical climate solutions and shared learning.

Science communication and creative engagement will be woven throughout the programme, helping to stimulate discussion, encourage new perspectives and bring the research to life.

Attendees can register for Day 1, Day 2, or both days, and can indicate during registration whether they will attend the Fireside Chat and Networking Dinner.
